Michael “Sash” Alexander Macura

October 23, 1993 – July 15, 2022

Memory Eternal!

It is with infinite sadness that we must announce the passing of Michael Alexander (Sash) Macura, of Pottstown, PA, in July 2022.

Sasha was born in Honolulu, HI to Mat. Tatiana and the late Fr. Edward Michael Macura on October 23, 1993. He attended EMC Elementary School, Souderton, PA. He graduated from Downingtown HS East, Exton, PA. Sash spent his summers as a lifelong camper turned dedicated counselor at St Tikhon’s Summer Camp in South Canaan, PA.

Sash had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was fascinated by the stars and knew the names of all the planets in our solar system by the time he was in pre-k. He was passionate about science, medicine, and history. He was a lifelong animal lover, had volunteered at animal shelters, and was the doting owner of two bearded dragons, Kaya and Lucy. He had the amazing capacity to absorb and retain all he learned, and never missed a chance to share that knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen.

He loved nature and watching his tiny window garden grow. He enjoyed yoga, hiking, biking, and camping in the woods.

Music brought him great joy and comfort. He was a super-talented guitar player and could easily pick up most any instrument and figure out a tune without sheet music. He also enjoyed listening to anything from Sinatra to show tunes to EDM, and was an avid Beatles fan.

He adored Christmas lights, preferring them to traditional lighting in his home. He would also flip on the year-round Christmas lights at his mom’s house as soon as he walked in for a visit. Then, he’d switch on their favorite local Oldies station and Iron Chef. They both loved cooking and sharing recipes.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Sash would agree that his bright, infectious smile and sense of humor would light up the room. He loved watching Comedy Central and derived immense pleasure from getting a laugh out of everyone he met–even complete strangers. He was a trusted, loyal friend, always ready to lend an ear or shoulder to cry on to those in need.

Sash was a deeply, fiercely loving son and brother. He is survived and treasured by his loving family: his mother, Tanya (Tatiana) (Macura) Yerkes (née Yuschak) of Royersford, PA; and his two brothers, Rdr. Nicholas Macura of Harleysville, PA; and Timothy Macura (wife Katrina and daughter Leila Ana Lulya) of Dover, NJ.

Sash is predeceased by his father, the V. Rev. Edward Michael Macura of Stratford, CT; and his grandparents, the V. Rev. Nicholas and Mat. Vera Yuschak of Pottstown, PA, and John and Katherine Macura of Bridgeport, CT.

“Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten.”
