Daria Danchenko Babiak, born on May 18th, 1955, in Homestead, PA, passed away at home surrounded by family on July 2nd, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She grew up in West Mifflin, PA, where she developed a passion for baking, gardening, and the arts.
Daria pursued her artistic talents, attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Interior Design, a field that reflected her creative spirit and unparalleled work ethic. After completing her education, she embarked on a career that included roles in supervision and customer service. Notably, she contributed her talents at QVC and CubeSmart, where her warmth and dedication endeared her to colleagues and customers alike.
On October 21st, 1979, Daria married Daniel Babiak, her devoted partner and love of her life for over 44 years. Together, they raised three children: Stefanie Babiak-Bilger (Son-in-law Rob Bilger), Mark Babiak (Daughter-in-law Meredith Reape-Babiak), and Nick Babiak (Daughter-in-law Christine Lander-Babiak). Rob, Christine, and Meredith quickly became cherished members of the family, sharing in Daria’s love for family.
Daria’s greatest joy came from her role as a Baba (grandmother) to eight grandchildren: Connor, Daniel, Wesley, Lydia, Elise, Benjamin, Caleb, and Brooke. She delighted in their company, celebrated their achievements, and spoiled them with love and affection, creating treasured memories that will endure through generations. Their home was a haven of love, laughter, and organized chaos.
Throughout her life, Daria had a flair for baking lavish cakes and desserts, which became a centerpiece of joy at countless gatherings among family and friends. Her culinary creations were renowned for bringing smiles and warmth to those who had the pleasure of tasting them at bake sales, holiday gatherings, and even weddings.
Daria was deeply involved in her church community, volunteering her time and talents at St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church. Her compassionate spirit and dedication enriched the lives of those around her, reflecting her commitment to serving others.
At the family home outside of Phoenixville, PA, Daria cultivated her gardens with loving care, creating a sanctuary of beauty and tranquility. Her green thumb and love for nature were evident in the flourishing blooms and thriving plants that surrounded her family’s property in their cherished outdoor space.
Daria is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Babiak; her children, Stefanie & Rob, Mark & Meredith, Nick & Christine; her eight grandchildren; her brother & sister-in-law, Fred & Rebecca Danchenko and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Greg & Cindy Babiak. Fred, Rebecca, Greg & Cindy were cherished members of Daria’s extended family, offering steadfast support and companionship throughout the years.
Daria’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends, yet her spirit lives on in the memories she created and the values she imparted. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family and friends will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Daria Danchenko Babiak will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration for the remarkable woman she was. May her memory be Eternal.
