St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church Welcomes Archbishop Mark
On Saturday March 19, 2022 His Eminence, Archbishop Mark began His Archpastoral visit to St. Herman of Alaska Church Glen Mills, PA, with the Great Vespers service followed by a Lenten Dinner in the Church Memorial Hall.
On Sunday, March 20, 2022 His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great assisted by the Pastor, Archpriest John Perich, attached clergy and deacons as well numerous Sub-deacons and altar servers. His Eminence spoke on the significance of the Sunday of St. Gregory of Palamas and the lesson from the Holy Gospel, inspiring the faithful to continue the Great Lenten Season in prayer and love.
It was indeed heartwarming to see so many communicants receiving the precious and Holy Body of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. At the conclusion of the Holy Liturgy, Father Perich presented various gifts to His Eminence from the parish, including a Panagia (Engolpion) of the Icon of the Mother of God, “Areo Vindus”.
Following the Veneration of the Cross, everyone joined His Eminence in the Church Hall where he blessed the latest shipment of boxes being sent to Poland and Uzhgorod for the suffering refugees from the war in Ukraine. After this everyone enjoyed a special Lenten Luncheon prepared by the women of the Church.
Truly this weekend was indeed a great blessing to our faithful. Glory to God for all things!
