The Sunday following the Feast of Pentecost is dedicated in the Orthodox Church as the Sunday of All Saints. The Gospel Lesson for this Sunday is from Matthew 10:32-33, 37-38 and 19:27-30, which highlights the importance of confessing faith and love in Jesus Christ and the consequences of not.
The Feast of All Saints honors and commemorates all those countless men and women of God who lived Godly lives of whom many made the supreme sacrifice as martyrs. On this day we celebrate the Family of God, the Communion of Saints, we become one with them remembering that the Holy Spirit unites all believers, glorified and militant, into one Mystical Body, the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Also on this Sunday we in this country commemorate Father’s Day, so today we draw a comparison between our heavenly Father and our earthly father. We especially remember and appreciate what God has done for us and we also recognize what our earthly father has done for us, by nurturing us and caring and providing for us throughout our lives.
So on this Sunday following Pentecost let us celebrate the Holy Trinity and give thanks to our Father in Heaven for all the grace and bounties He has bestowed upon us.
To all of our fathers we offer our thanks for the love they have given us.
